If I freeze my prozac, will it still be effective years later?

Firstly, freezing the medication will not help. It is recommended to be stored at room temperature. The expiration date on a pharmacy filled prescription bottle is usually a year from the day it was dispensed. The manufacturer's expiration date may significantly exceed this date. The date of the manufacturer's expiration is the time at which the drug can not be guaranteed to contain at least 90% of the original strength. Prozac does not decay into anything toxic, and it is likely you will be able to most of the benefit from it's use, even after the expiration. Additionally, if you need help affording medication, visit www.needymeds.com for applications for subsidized or free medications directly from drug companies.
